Walk
Written by my son, Peter
So some and/or most people think that you will need 2 legs to walk, and I think my Mom is gonna try to change that. Where do I start, whe went into the hospital on the 27th of February at about 9pm and actually got admitted at 3am on the 28th. My aunt then got a text at about 3:30am which she wasn't awake to see. The text went along the lines of, "Hi Tammy, looks like they're going to have to amputate my leg." She then gets a call from the OR asking her to make the decision to amputate at 6am in the morning, now to let you know, most people aren't even awake let alone able to make that massive of a decision at 6 IN THE MORNING. She then calls my house at 6:13am and asks my brother what to do with the hospital still on the house phone. We get there at about 7:30am sit around for 3 hours till the doctors come in and say that she has 24-48 hours and that theres nothing they can do, one thing I didn't know until after the fact is that they called my aunt (Tammy) and brother out of the room and said that she has 1-24 hours. The Doctors then come back in at 5pm after we had got supper and they said that they were going to take her down for a CAT scan to see if it had gotten any worst. The Doctors came back at about 5:30pm and brought consent for treatment forms with them. They said that the infection was lower then they had first suspected and that they could try an amputation. They gave my Mom a 35% chance of not making it off the operating table alive. About 2 and a half hours later they wheeled her back down and said that she had done better than expected during the surgery and that they amputated at her hip. And now we're here. She's now in recovery mode, probably going to use a wheelchair for a good while until they get to the point that her arms are strong enough to use crutches and be able to walk.. My Mom is a living miracle..
